D is for Demolition

This is a mad mad mad mad mad world
Making their mark as Triple B’s first “international” releases. Fast and tight, like early Madball (early Madball...like Ball of Destruction...before punx wuz scared of Madball cuz they wuz too thug). Digging that cover art. Taggart meets Pushead and that art style that everyone (including me) is jocking. Spoiler did the demo cover, but evidently not this 'un. Look for this 7” in the coming months....and stream it on the Triple B site.

When I asked my best friend KL how they sounded at Not Dead Yet his honest reply was, after taking a swig of Ginger Ale at a Louisville Mr. Gatti's 'Most.'

C is for Cause for Alarm

Pumas in the Pit

Cause for Alarm rules. TYF rules. 97A rules. Rad? If I remember correctly they were a BMX themed band who had a release out on Broken Glass records. I don't get down with BMX. Don't hate it, just don't really "get" it. What-the-hell-ever though. Looks like a gig for the ages....and $5?! Put that in yer Tumblr goofburger pipe and take a deep hit.

B is for Breakdown

...cuz the Jail of Depression's cafeteria suxxx!

Specifically, Breakdown acting goofy at a Denny's in Albany, ca 1988. Perlin gets crazy with the (spicy?) ketchup while the rest await an order. No telling who took this flick, and the regional diversity represented in the clothing choices (Maryland Terps Tee shirt, SF Giants cap) astonishes me...but a wholesome slice of NYHC classic history for those who dig deep.

A is for The Aftermath

DCHC

The Aftermath

Ripping hardcore from DC that never really got much hype (though it should've), but did garner some comparisons to Sheer Terror and culty status as far as I can tell. I can’t find any videos of damaged city fest appearance, but message board buzz tells me they were well received. Go search for their stuff. I’ve found each of their three 7” on different trips to Amoeba Music in Los Angeles.
Matt sings in a band called Human Shield now.

Ringworm Goatees (Core Core Core #7)

Confront Shirt

I miss them. Not that I ever had one, but I miss almost getting clocked in the noggin by some goateed sumbitch in a pair of Kappa warmup pants and Sauconys. Good stuff brother.

Da WINNAH! #1

After days and days of an empty inbox I was pretty convinced that none of you were on board with this...til the tiny faintly glowing ember of hope and trust I have in "this thing of ours" was stoked by none other than my boy Daan # (That's pronounced "DAAN HASHTAG" newbz) the creative genius behind one of the best zines I've read in 2013, #Hardcore! I already dumped tons of praise on it in issue 2 of the newsletter (which you can still pick up here).
DROP TROU

Anyway, the correct answer to the question (what record is the character above from?) is Amorality, the newest 7" offering from Canadian Scumbags Hassler. Since you're not goobers, you should recognize the trademark style of one Spoiler, but if you didn't...where have you been for the past 6 years? You don't see our pee-pee rat friend on the front of the EP (pictured below), but you'll find him on the back next to the track listing, mean-muggin' and dropping trou in a garbage can. Available on Beach Impediment Records (but sold out on their bigcartel). Look around.

HESH N' FRESH: WE ALL IN DA SAME GAME

Daan # gets a super duper pooper, exclusive Drug Dogs prize back for winning this round! Thanks for playing! There'll be another one soon!

Hardcore Whozit #1

HARDCORE WHOZIT?

The internet rules. I’m not one of those bickering yeller-bellies who keeps accusing the internet of “ruining” hardcore. I’m of the opposite mind. I mean, how else would you be reading these barely coherent ramblings in your parents’ converted garage in Des Moines? However, I’m not totally on the internet’s dick (like y’all are with Twitching Tongues) and I feel that in this fast paced, razzle dazzle bit coin world of porno downloading, messageboard trolling, Nikes, bitcoins and huffing keyboard duster while streaming anime on youtube, we’re losing the emphasis on actually buying records to put on a shelf, and putting more emphasis on gaining immediate digital access to them. I know I know...not exactly new ground, but important ground nonetheless.

So here’s me doing my part to maybe (maybe) turn the tide on some of you more impressionable minds. Periodically, I’ll be posting these “characters”, cropped and taken from a hardcore record. The first person to tell me what record it’s from gets a drug dogs prize pack (some back issues of zines, an exclusive drug dogs mix tape and other fabulous prizes). Get cracking. Message me on here, or email drugdogszine@gmail.com.

Here we go:
This guy could’ve held court with Rat King back in the day. An angry SOD (that’s “doe,” the correct nomenclature for a female rat) with an attitude like Calvin: if I can’t get through this, then I might as well pee on it...barefoot and with my dong-a-long out for the world to peep. What record is he from?

Golden Showers bring May Flowers
First one of you to tell me where this comes from gets the Drug Dogs prize pack. Steady searchin!
